Burek

Burek is popular meal in Bosnia. Burek is a common term to refer the pie or Pita with meat inside.

How to make:

Step 1:
Prepare all the ingredients.
  • 2 tablespoons of salt
  • 1 pound of meat (beef)
  • 1 tablespoon of pepper
  • 1 tablespoon of Vegeta  (a spice and vegetable condiment)
  • Vegetable or olive oil (as needed)
  • 2 pounds (907g) of flour
  • 1 large yellow onion
  • 16 fl. ounces (473ml) of water
Step 2:
 Mix the flour and 1 tablespoon of salt in a bowl and add the water. Mix until you have a dough like appearance.

Step 3:
  Spread a table cloth onto a table and add some flour to it. Roll the dough onto to it and let sit for about 15 minutes.

Step 4:
 Dice up the tomato and beef and add to a bowl. Add 1 tablespoon of salt, pepper, and vegeta to the bowl. Mix up all the contents of the bowl.

Step 5:
 Roll the dough using a rolling pin and add a little vegetable oil to the dough. Stretch the dough out using your hands carefully and let sit for about 5 minutes.

Step 6:
 Add the beef and onions onto the dough and flip the edges of the dough so that it covers the meat and onion.

Step 7:
 Roll the dough around the beef and onions so that there is about 3 layers of dough. Then roll it into a spiral.

Step 8:
 Place in a pan and cook at 430 degrees Fahrenheit for about 40-45 minutes.

Step 9:
 Eat and enjoy!
